John McCain,RIP
A Navy fighter pilot, proud of graduating at the bottom of his class at Annapolis, John McCain was a maverick from birth. When shot down, badly injured and captured by the North Vietnamese he refused to betray his fellow prisoners or dishonor his country. For this he paid a terrible price. As a Congressman and Senator he became a voice of moderation and cooperation on many issues, willing to reach across the aisles to forge pragmatic solutions for the greater good of America. In seeking moderate, common sense solutions and being willing to look for them with political adversaries, he embodied the best of the moderate American political tradition. May he rest in peace and may others step forward to take his place.
